Records of the Year: Numb by The Airborne Toxic Event

Comfortably Numb

The second album from The Airborne Toxic Event seems to have rather slipped through the cracks this year, in the UK at least. They’re still growing in the US though, so I doubt the band will care what this little island thinks of them. Neither do I, if it comes to that. All At Once is a great record, made all the more urgent by lead singer Mike Jollet’s precarious health. “I shudder when I think I might not be here forever,” he cries on ‘All I Ever Wanted’ and it’s clear he’s determined to milk life for all it’s got. Let’s hope he has many more great records in him…
