Records of the Year: Nørgaard by The Vaccines

Indiepop Ain’t Noise Pollution

Just when you think indie’s dead and they’re shovelling the sods over its bloated corpse, the beast sticks a defiant two fingers out of the ground and comes back fighting. The Vaccines surprised everybody this year by mixing the Pixies, the Ramones and the Strokes to produce one of the biggest selling records of the year. Best of all, they don’t outstay their welcome. ‘Nørgaard’ blows out at a spiky 1 minute 38 seconds, and it’s all the better for it.

Great Dane’s cheekbones
Teenage hormones
Young complexion
Non-physical affection
You’re a god send
Do you want a boyfriend?
Crazy crazy, easy tiger
